Qualification overview

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision qualification has been developed for delivery in a Construction and Built Environment sector working environment; which means it cannot be achieved 'off-the-job'. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in Occupational Work Supervision within the construction industry or progress onto further learning.

The Assessments will cover key practical skills and knowledge in these 5 mandatory units:

  • Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area
  • Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships
  • Confirming the Occupational Method of Work
  • Implementing and Maintaining Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Co-ordinating and Organising Work Operations

The Assessments will also cover key practical skills and knowledge in two of the following optional units (2 Units required):

  • Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant, Machinery or Equipment
  • Monitoring Progress of work against schedules
  • Confirming Work Meets Quality Standards
  • Implementing Procedures to Support the Team's Performance
  • Co-ordinating and Confirming Dimensional Control Requirements of the Work
  • Contributing to the Circulation of Construction Related Project Information

  

NVQ L2 Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Slinger/Signaller (Construction)

The minimum age requirement for this qualification is 16+; there are no further entry requirements to take this qualification. This means that you can undertake this qualification without ay previous training or qualifications in this subject area.

Progression:

This is an NVQ qualification and competence can only be demonstrated in a work environmnet. On completion, other job roles could include:

- Slinger Signaller

- Lifting operative

- Lifting supervisor

- Lifting manager

Alternatively, you can progress on to the following qualification:

Qualification overview

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting OPerations - Slinger / Signaller qualification has been developed for delivery in a Construction and Built Environment sector working environment; which means it cannot be achieved 'off-the-job'. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work as a Slinger / Signaller within the construction industry or progress onto further learning.

This qualification supports the Learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge. Although part of an apprenticeship, this qualification is available outside of an apprenticeship where either the learner's circumstances prevent them undertaking a full apprenticeship or where their prioir skills and knowledge mean they do not require all components of the apprenticeship.

In addition, industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

 

The Assessments will cover key practical skills and knowledge in these 4 mandatory units:

  • Checking and Preparing Lifting Accessories to Carry Out Lifting Operations
  • Attaching and Preparing Suspended Loads for Movement Using Lifting Accessories
  • Guiding, Positioning and Placing Suspended Loads
  • Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare

Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting OPerations - Planning Lifts

Units must be assessed in a work environment.

The Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Supervising Lifts qualification has been developed for delivery in a Construction and Built Environmnet sector working environment; which means it cannot be achieved 'off-the-job'. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in Controlling Lifting Operations - Supervising Lifts within the construction industry or progress onto further learning.

The Assessments will cover key practical skills and knowledge in these 8 mandatory units:

  • Supervising Lifting Operations Using Lifting Equipment
  • Maintaining the Dimensional Accuracy of the Work
  • Co-ordinating Preperation Work for Site or Lifting Operations
  • Allocating Work and Checking People's Performance
  • Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships
  • Maintaining Systems for Health, Safety, Welfare and and Environmental Protection
  • Co-ordinating and Organising the control of work
  • Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant, Equipment or Machinery
